But is Twitter Blue worth the money?

What is Twitter Blue?

Twitter Blue offers users two things: the option to draw attention to their account by adding a blue or gold (for businesses) checkmark, and access to special features and benefits. In contrast, users must pay $11 per month for iOS users and $8 for web users (Blue is not yet available on Android via Google Play).

Twitter Blue is currently only available in the US, UK, Canada, New Zealand and Australia.

Is Twitter Worth the Blue Coin?

You need to consider three parameters when making your decision. First, are you a casual or highly engaged Twitter user? Second, what do you use Twitter for? Third, what are the alternatives?

Let's take a look at what Twitter Blue has to offer before we make a decision.

1. Blue and Gold Checkmarks

If you want to draw attention to your tweets, Twitter will "rocket to the top of replies, mentions and searches" by promising that tweets from verified users will be prioritized.

If that's true, getting a blue or gold (for businesses) checkmark can have tremendous value in standing out in the Twitter landscape. This is especially important for public figures and businesses that need to promote their views or products.

2. Edit Tweets

The editing feature is quite popular and has been in demand for a long time. Users who send a lot of tweets or long threads will appreciate being able to edit their tweets as much as they want within the first 30 minutes, thus eliminating long-standing frustration.

3. Undo Tweets

Ironically, the Undo Tweet option slows down your Twitter experience by delaying your Tweet before it goes live, and some users prefer to turn it off.

4. Bookmark Folders

This can be very important in archiving important tweets in an organized manner so that you can easily find them for future reference.

5. Most Popular Articles

If you use Twitter for content consumption or news coverage, exclusive access to the most important articles discussed or shared by your network can be a valuable feature.

6. NFT Profile Pictures

If you are interested in crypto, you have the option to indicate this by customizing your Twitter profile using an NFT.

7. Customization

Twitter Blue also allows you to rearrange and change the color of icons in your interface. This is suitable for superusers as it enhances their experience by highlighting the most used buttons and giving them an aesthetic option.

8. Longer Video Upload

You can upload up to sixty minutes of 1080p (Full HD) video on Twitter Blue. This is extremely beneficial for creators, businesses, and public figures who use Twitter as their primary communication platform.

Issues

with Twitter Blue There are a few issues with Twitter Blue that can detract from its value.

1. Loss of Checkmark When

subscribers change their username, display name or profile photo, they will temporarily lose the checkmark until their account is reviewed again. This can happen at the wrong time (for example, when running a promotional campaign). Additionally, those whose accounts are verified before Musk arrives on the scene will eventually lose their checkmarks permanently and have to pay to get it back.

2. Phone Number Requirement

Your account must be linked to your phone number before it can be verified. The company says this is to combat impersonation, but considering Twitter has been hacked in the past, we see it as a personal security nightmare.

Twitter Blue isn't eliminating ads and political ads are returning to Twitter, which may disappoint some users. The subscription only promises that users will see 50% fewer ads. If you're paying for a service, should ads be part of the service? We think it is not.

So Is Twitter Blue Worth It?

If you're a casual Twitter user, you don't need to pay $8 or $11 per month (US users) unless Twitter Blue offers a completely ad-free experience or some improvements to the algorithm that radically changes your Twitter experience.

But if you're tweeting for a business or a superuser who uses Twitter all day then the cost is negligible and Twitter Blue is worth it.
